• Before inquiring of a new tattoo I urge potential clients to consider what specific elements they are imagining, where on the body it will be and the approximate size.

When given artistic freedom I’m actually able to work more efficiently. I do need some assistance since I can’t climb inside your brain to see what you’re thinking.

Ie: Is there a specific type of flower, or breed of animal? Is it facing upwards, downwards or in profile view? Is is sitting, dancing or prancing? Is there an overwhelming feeling of cute, stoic or sad? Is it standing alone or are there elements in the background or foreground?

Sometimes I recommend making a sketch of your thoughts, even if it’s the most basic stick figure and arrow situation to help identify and map. This allows us to have a shared visual language about your ideas.

  • Please note, due to overwhelming interest, a lack of hours in the day, and the fact that tattooing is largely physically and emotionally demanding, I cannot possibly tattoo everyone who inquires.

Size wise, I prefer to take on pieces that are at least hand sized (4×6). This allows me to create detail, depth and allow your tattoo design room to heal beautifully for many years to come. I always welcome large full limb requests.

I am not currently nor do I plan to make trees, landscape scenes, human figures or text.

I do not tattoo ribs, stomachs, upper hips, pubic areas or chests of new clients. These placements are especially difficult on both of our bodies. If you are an existing client, we can discuss.

Coverups are not generally feasible with the finer line quality of my work. If you’re thinking you’d like a coverup I will recommend getting a handful of sessions of laser removal in order to lighten an old tattoo. This allows a better more fluid option to coverup the old and bring in the new.

Also keep in mind, I do not recreate other artists works or tattoos, or make designs with specific cultural or religious symbolism outside of my Greek and Jewish heritage out of respect for myself and for you.

  • While experiencing high demand for custom work I’ve decided it’s in all of our best interest for me to take only 3-4 months of appointments at a time. That means that about four times a year I will be accepting new clients so we can secure a date in the foreseeable future. When my books are closed I will not be responding to new client inquiries so that I can focus on drawing for and tattooing the folx currently on my schedule.

Specific dates for books opening vary. Please sign up for the mailing list. Every three or four months I will send out an email to folks on the list with information about my next booking availability. This allows you time to gather your thoughts without the stress of a timeframe of ‘books open’. It usually takes me a few weeks to read and reply to everyone, so thanks in advance for your patience.

Keep in mind I am just one person managing all of the elements of communication, design and actual tattoo time. I can only work so many hours in a day. I consistently have requests from existing clients that will take priority before accepting new clients. Let this not turn you off from submitting a request, just know that it’s not personal if I can’t take your project at this time.

  • Trust is the biggest pillar in this process. You’re here because you enjoy what you’ve seen come out of my hands. If you’re certain about your tattoo idea and that my work is stylistically in line with the idea in your head, this will go smoothly.

I do not email final designs in advance of the appointment. Designs are ready upon your arrival. I leave cushion time in my day if edits are necessary. I understand this can be nerve wracking for some. However, please understand that there are larger visionary aspects to a tattoo than what initially meets the eye upon paper. You are in good hands and will be cared for!

For nervous fox and first timers, I welcome FaceTime consults and the ability to review design layouts a week in advance of your appointment. Feel free to inquire of this before booking.

  • Consultations are not generally necessary as I’m usually able to gather most information from our email communication. Upon confirmation of the project I’ll email an estimated length of time and deposit requirement for your project, and booking information will be forwarded.

A half hour FaceTime consult is welcome and included in your drawing fee to meet and greet and discuss my design plans the week in advance of your appointment.

  • An estimate is based on projected time in relation to the details, size and placement you provide in the request email. I will share this along when I send confirmation and booking information.

I work at an hourly rate of $300 for the entirety of your tattoo appointment which includes all preparation, set-up, breaks and aftercare discussion.

Changing placement or size may alter your estimated cost.

I understand that tattoos are expensive and disposable income is hard to come by. I will do my best to work with you within your budget. Ultimately I do not recommend shortchanging yourself on the design you desire. If you have a specific financial situation do note that in your email and I will do my best to work with you as I am able.

Note that as a small business cash is the preferred method of payment for your appointment, but we do of course take cards. Brilliance and I thank you for your consideration.

  • Every appointment requires a $300 deposit. A deposit is a non-refundable, non-transferrable agreement that we are committing to an agreed upon project, and will start my drawing process. Some or all of this deposit will be held as a drawing fee, depending on the size of your tattoo.

Deposits are held for an agreed upon project. Changes to the subject matter and design may require an additional fee.

Cancellation with less than one week notice may void your deposit. See below.

  • In case of reschedule, email me with at least one week notice to your scheduled appointment. If you do not give at least one week notice your deposit is void. Do not call the shop, we do not have an active telephone.

If you start to feel unwell please contact me via email. Do not show up sick or you’ll be asked to leave for everyone’s safety.

If you must reschedule your appointment after setting the date please email as soon as possible. Appointments must be rescheduled upon cancellation or within 30 days or the deposit will be void. Three reschedules will invalidate your deposit.

  • I’m a proud resident at Brilliance Tattoo, located at 3399 Washington Street, Jamaica Plain, Boston, MA. We offer a low volume, appointment only space. It is quite lovely, and filled with plants and sun.

There is dedicated parking behind the shop. We are also only one block from the Green Street orange line train station. I’m looking forward to welcoming you to this inviting and calm space for your new adornment.
